Aube, connected to Paris and Europe, where traffic flows smoothly.

Just 1h30 southeast of Paris, Aube is strategically located at the crossroads of the A5 and A26 freeways. Close to the capital, but far from its constraints, it’s easy to get to. And it’s easy to get around.

An ideal motorway junction for getting away from it all or for travelling.

The A5 and A26 freeways cross at the gateway to Troyes, right in the heart of the département. This puts Aube at the crossroads of 2 major European routes, north-south and east-west:
– London/Milan, Rotterdam/Barcelona, via Reims, Dijon and Lyon.
– Paris and Orléans/Eastern Europe, via Sens and Chaumont.

We’re reminded of those medieval merchants who, twice a year, converged on Troyes and Bar-sur-Aube from all over Europe to trade northern cloths and furs for southern silks and spices…

90 km/h highways and quiet country roads: smooth, everyday travel.

It’s so easy to get around Aube, whether for business or pleasure!
To make daily travel easier – going to work, shopping – the speed limit has been raised to 90 km/hour (from 80) on most of the major roads in the Aube region.

These key routes, which account for 25% of the departmental network’s traffic, all converge on Troyes, forming a star. These are the ex-national roads that have been taken over by the Conseil départemental, and most of the ring road serving the Troyes conurbation. Here, it’s possible to live in the countryside while enjoying all the facilities of the city.
And for your Sunday strolls, 4,500 km of quiet, perfectly maintained roads await you – heading for lakes, the countryside… or the Champagne vineyards, with their “chemins qui pétillent” and serpentines…

Local short-distance carpooling: Karos, a super-economical solution.

Whether you’re a driver or a passenger, in the Aube region you’ll have the chance to access an advantageous car-sharing system for your daily home/work, home/study or home/leisure journeys. This is the Karos application, through which local authorities have developed a strong incentive to share journeys. By contributing financially to this service, the Département de l’Aube and Troyes Champagne Métropole have strengthened public transport services in the region – particularly outside public transport timetables or in under-served areas. Karos works in perfect harmony with the Paris-Mulhouse train and city buses (paperless ticket giving free access to TCAT buses in Troyes and its suburbs).
Economical, user-friendly and environmentally friendly, the Karos solution is accessible via a free, easy-to-use mobile app, available on Goople Play and App Store. Karos connects users with similar journeys at matching times. Passengers and drivers share the costs, which are automatically calculated. The transaction is carried out via the application. In the event of a driver’s withdrawal, a return assistance service is available.

2023 rates :
I’m a driver: I get €2 per passenger + 10 cents per km over 20 km (up to a maximum of 50 km).
I’m a passenger: the journey costs €1.35 for up to 50 km, i.e. the price of a single ticket for the TCAT bus network. Beyond 50 km, 10 centimes per kilometer are added to this amount.
