In Aube, the economy sparkles
Originally, Aube was known for its agricultural, winegrowing and textile economy.
Today, it has preserved its identity, notably through vine-growing, the knitwear textile industry and crafts based on its historic heritage, while at the same time renewing itself.
Over the past 30 years, Aube has been developing an innovation ecosystem that has led to the emergence of startups and the establishment of cutting-edge industries. The Aube economy is full of opportunities, sometimes in historic sectors that are now bouncing back. This is the case for hemp and wood, for example.
Sectors that recruit
The textile industry employs around 2,000 people at companies such as Petit Bateau, Le Coq Sportif and Lacoste. Factory outlets are still present in Aube, and Troyes is the European capital.
The region’s geographical location gives it a prime position in these fields. The river port of Nogent-sur-Seine, the UTT research center and the 250-hectare logistics business park are real assets for the development of this sector.
In the Aube region, the healthcare sector offers a diverse range of activities and sectors. The region boasts a wide range of structures that are constantly on the lookout for new employees (medicine, pharmacy, care facilities, administrative support, etc.), and offers numerous prospects for the future.
With 13.5 million day-trippers* in 2022, tourism is a major source of employment in Aube. Cultural heritage, wine tourism, brand-name centers and the Nigloland theme park are just some of the attractions that attract tourists all year round.

Whether it’s processing grapes in Champagne, milk in Chaource or growing cereals, this is a buoyant sector in the département. With 380,000 ha of farmland, agriculture generates over 15,000 jobs in Aube.
