Healthcare: cooperation and innovation to preserve access to care.

Here, as everywhere, access to healthcare is one of everyone’s primary concerns. Aube intends to meet this challenge through the quality of its staff and facilities, and through innovation (including in the organization and coordination of healthcare players).

Healthcare facilities: the choice between public and private.

There are 4 public hospitals in the Aube region: the Troyes hospital center, plus the local hospitals of Bar-sur-Seine and Bar-sur-Aube(Champagne sud hospital group) and the Romilly-sur-Seine hospital, which operates in conjunction with the Nogent-sur-Seine and Sézanne branches (Aube-Marne hospital group).

Troyes and Romilly each have a maternity hospital, supporting some 3,000 births a year.

In the field of psychiatry, the EPSMA (Etablissement public de santé mentale de l’Aube) operates 42 health facilities and one specialized home – a total of 321 beds and places, including 249 in the health sector.

Three private clinics are also present in the region, further expanding the range of healthcare services on offer: the Clinique des Pays de Seine in Romilly-sur-Seine, the polyclinique Montier-la-Celle (Saint-André-les-vergers) and the Hôpital privé de l’Aube (Troyes), linked to the Centre hospitalier de Troyes.

A high-quality, innovative hospital cluster with state-of-the-art, constantly evolving technical facilities.

A major player in the region’s healthcare offer, the Centre hospitalier de Troyes provides consultations in all specialties: gynecology, neurology, cardiology, vascular surgery, digestive surgery, orthopedics, medicine, geriatrics, etc.
Medical services are grouped into poles: Mother and Child, Surgery, Oncology, Vascular, Medical Clinic, Emergency.

The modern, recently enlarged Hôpital Simone Veil boasts state-of-the-art technical facilities, rare outside regional or university hospitals. Its Da Vinci X surgical robot (shared with the Hôpital Privé de l’Aube, and open to private practitioners trained in the use of this tool) enables minimally invasive surgery, adapted to complex cases, and particularly effective in the removal of cancers: gynecological, digestive, urological surgery, etc.

Constantly evolving, the technical platform has recently been enhanced with “state-of-the-art” equipment, not only for surgery, but also for imaging (MRI, with a 3rd scanner to be installed at the end of 2023) and radiotherapy.
A new-generation birthing room was inaugurated in May 2023 within the level III maternity unit. A gynecological emergency service was also created in June 2022. In the wake of the Covid crisis, the intensive care unit was reinforced and a crisis unit was set up, combining critical care beds and standard care beds.

The regular arrival of new equipment is, of course, always accompanied by staff training plans.
Hôpitaux Champagne Sud has set up a continuing professional development center for all its healthcare professionals, offering more than 50 training courses designed to disseminate and update knowledge for the benefit of patients (emergency care management, quality of patient care, etc.).

The Troyes hospital, a benchmark facility in the Aube region.

Aube’s leading hospital in terms of care provision and volume of activity. Here are some of the hospital ‘s figures:

24,000 patients treated per year and 300,000 consultations per year;
20,000 medical and diagnosticstays and 3,000 obstetric stays;
More than 1,000 beds on 3 sites and nearly 8,000 operating room procedures;
2,460 FTEs
, including 280 medical staff and 10 territorial IPAs (advanced practice nurses)
283 million euros budget.

Healthcare services: an attractive network.

Aube already has 25 approved multidisciplinary health centers and 7 health centers (medical, dental, nursing). Thanks to this network and specific organization, patients benefit from coordinated care from general practitioners and paramedical professionals (nurses, masseurs, physiotherapists, etc.).

Emergencies and unscheduled care: call 15 to regulate and refer patients.

To avoid overloading public emergency services (reserved for the most serious cases), a regulation system has been set up. Before calling out, it is mandatory to dial “15”. At the other end of the line, regulation assistants direct callers according to their needs.

Who and where can I contact in Aube if I need help without an appointment?
On theAgence régionale de santé Grand Est (ARS) website, you’ll find contact details for the maisons médicales de garde and the centers de soins non programmés which welcome the public without an appointment: SOS Accueil médical at the Montier-la Celle polyclinic, EASI (Etablissement aubois de soins immédiats) at the Hôpital privé de l’Aube in Troyes.

Healthcare research and innovation: links and contributions from the Université de Technologie de Troyes and the Technopole de l’Aube.

“Making innovation accessible to all patients in hospitals and the regionThis is the mission of the clinical and care research unit set up within the Champagne Sud hospitals.
Numerous research projects aimed at improving patient well-being and healthcare organization are also carried out within the framework of partnerships with theUniversité de Technologie de Troyes (UTT) and the Technopole de l’Aube – two structures dedicated to innovation and immediate neighbors of the Centre Hospitalier de Troyes.

These cooperative ventures have led to the creation, in 2021, of theInstitut de Santé et Technologies de Troyes (ISTT), which focuses on a number of key, very concrete areas, notably care in institutions and at home: autonomy and ageing well, prevention and health promotion, patient pathways, organization and logistics of healthcare establishments, safety and health risk management.

The Technopole de l’Aube en Champagne (Troyes) is also home to startups and other companies dedicated to healthcare, which contribute directly to the well-being of patients.

Some examples:
Advanced Accelerator Applications (AAA) is a radiopharmaceutical company that develops, produces and markets molecular nuclear medicine products. In particular, it produces the valuable Gluscan, a short-lived product used for cancer diagnosis (Tep Scan at the Troyes hospital).

H’ability The company defines itself as “a playful immersive virtual reality solution” specially designed for the functional rehabilitation of people suffering from hemiplegia, with the mission of “(re)giving these people motor autonomy on a daily basis in healthcare establishments or directly at home with remote medical monitoring”.
Bioserenity works in particular with Gham hospitals (Groupement Hospitalier Aube Marne). The company is developing “intelligent textile solutions” which, by capturing data, aim to improve diagnosis and patient monitoring for 3 major pathologies: epilepsy, cardiological diseases and sleep disorders (diagnosis, monitoring, clinical trials). The famous “connected textiles” have been developed, combining “embedded electronics” and “signal transmission” in a flexible garment.

Télémédical Solution is a digital telemedicine practice that aims to “fight against medical deserts”, by offering teleconsultations assisted by a telemedicine assistant) and augmented thanks to a cart equipped with high-performance, connected devices.

Organizational innovation: developing partnerships and cooperation in healthcare.

During the Covid epidemic, local players demonstrated their ability to organize and work as a team. The stage is therefore set to continue developing partnerships and proposing new solutions.
Since March 2023, a territorial health committee has been in place in Aube. The aim is to coordinate health policies on a departmental scale, and to develop new projects that meet users’ expectations.

More than ever, partnerships and cooperative ventures between healthcare professionals and players are the key to boosting healthcare provision by freeing doctors from certain tasks. Solutions are being put forward, such as the use of medical assistants and advanced practice nurses (IPAs ) to carry out certain tasks previously carried out by doctors.
There is also talk of developing cooperation protocols between healthcare professionals: primary care teams in multi-disciplinary health centers, health centers, local health contracts, territorial professional health communities (CPTS)… a whole range of avenues are being explored.
Aube is setting up these systems (maisons de santé, IPAs, protocols, telemedicine, etc.) in its regions, in support of healthcare professionals and, above all, for the benefit of the local population.

Prévention Santé – Action médico-sociale: a valuable local network.

For any question relating to childhood, parenthood, sexuality, disability or ageing, you’ll find advice and support in the local network set up by the Département, which has made prevention a priority.
There are seven medical-social centers throughout the region, not to mention the many PMI (mother and child protection) consultation points and the sexual health center.

The department is strongly committed to the creation of “Maisons des 1000 premiers jours de la vie” (Houses for the first 1,000 days of life) in the regions.
The aim is to ensure the best possible start in life, including in terms of health, by providing support from the 4th month of pregnancy to the child’s 2nd birthday.

A “Bien vieillir dans l’Aube program of physical and intellectual activities for seniors is also in operation.
